Urban Clones
Urban Clones exhibition took place in 2010 at The Gallery, St Martin-in-the-Fields, London. The project reveals emotional and factual connections between the cities of two countries – the United Kingdom and Lithuania – allowing viewers to realise yet again that the specific signs of European history can be revealed from the least expected angles. Curated by Austeja Mackelaite.
Maritime
These photos were captured at Dungeness, Kent – one of the most mystic places I have ever walked upon. It has an air of remoteness and solitude, lonely huts and black painted wooden buildings, two nuclear power stations next to an old lighthouse and many more factors which makes this shingle peace of land unforgettable.
40 min of England
This set was created unexpectedly (as everything else in my life I might say). I used to travel every morning to work through the same motorway jammed with traffic and to make time go faster I have started to shoot passing cars and slightly changing scenery with my old Nokia phone. It was my very first years of residency in this country and this daily journey of 40 min through M25 and A3 imposed a strong perception about the south east region of the UK :)
The Property
I felt instant feeling of grace and weirdly romantic mood at Pere-Lachaise cemetery in Paris but no matter how magnificent the grave stones and tombs are you can still feel the chill of an afterlife … This collection was captured with an idea of a paradox to our everyday goals and dreams to have a house full of “fancy” things but in the end of the journey the final property most of us end up with is an empty 50×50 cm concrete box …
Ballade
This set was inspired by Albert Camus quote – “Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower”.
